You can also find John Boos cutting boards and blocks in use daily on the Food Network channel, and popular cooking shows and competitions. Boos Professional Butcher's Blocks are built in Effingham, Illinois from select American Northern Hard Rock Maple. Hard Rock Maple is easy on knives and resists nicks and gouges, preventing bacteria from penetrating the wood. The PCA1 block features a 10-inch thick, end grain construction top. The surface length and width measurements are 18 by 18-inch and the cutting surface features a Boos block cream finish with beeswax. A wood knife holder is attached for convenient knife storage. Four matching pencil legs are included. After simple assembly, the PCA1 block stands 34-inch tall. John Boos recommends oiling butcher's block tops every three to four weeks to maintain and protect the wood from drying or cracking. John Boos Oil and Cream sold separately.
